Day 60 July 21st Bear Spray
Worland WY to Burlington WY 47 miles (2,680)
This is Tom. He came into Sue's Cafe in Burlington, Wyoming, while I was having a late breakfast. He had just ridden through Yellowstone and enthusiastically told me about the cool weather, beautiful scenery, and wildlife. He also provided me with some pointers about where to camp while inside the park. Then he gave me his bear spray and showed me how to use it. I told him that I hoped I woudn't need it and that I would pass it on to another cyclist when I leave Yellowstone out the north entrance in a few days. On second thought, given the recent news regarding grizzly attacks, I better hold on to it until I leave Montana.
So, now I am not going to fly home from Cody - something I was seriously considering.
This morning's view from Steve and Sue's driveway:
I have seen numerous pronghorn antelope over the last few days, but they are difficult to take pictures of because they are extremely shy and fast. Finally, I got a pic:
Tonight I am camping on the lawn behind the gourmet pizza restaurant in Burlington, Wyoming:
The proprietors, Mike and Lisa, we're kind enough to let me hang out in their air conditioned restaurant all day while eating a large Happy Hippie Pizza:
Beautiful sunrise 👌🏻
ReplyDeleteGlad you’re still riding. Looking forward to seeing pictures of Yellowstone.
Tom sounds like a cool dude. Hope you don’t have to use the spray. Wonder if they make Bison repellent?🤔😁
Fun to see you go through some country I have visited many times. Still amazed at the incredible support and kindness from those alone the way. Bear spray? their sprint speed is over 30mph, maybe wear it on a quick draw holster Ha! Encouraged by your determination, press on my friend. Jeff
ReplyDeleteNice to see that you found the stamina and grit to venture on. Keep pedaling my friend!
