Day 59 July 20th Helping Others

Thermopolis WY to Worland WY  36 miles (2,633)

Today I have the privilege of staying with this caring, generous, thoughtful couple - Steve and Sue. They are long retired from their careers in forestry and soil science; but they use their knowledge and expertise to help a community in the small country of Lesotho, Africa. They also use their knowledge to grow their own fruits and vegetables in the arid, harsh soil where they live near Worland, Wyoming:
They prepared a fabulous, wholesome meal with lots of goodies from their garden. I felt refreshed and healthy after eating such a great meal with them.

The views from their home atop a hill are beautiful, even though today you can't see the Bighorn Mountains due to smoke from California and Idaho fires:
Their backyard is adjacent to unlimited Mountain biking on BLM land:
Before dinner, Steve took me out in his ToyTacoma ( as he calls it) into the Badlands where he likes to go mountain biking. Here are some of the views:
I had a nice short ride to Steve and Sue's home today. Just a couple of miles prior to arriving, I came across this historical area:
Note: A couple of days ago, when I was leaving the Hell's Half Acre area - the one where I crawled under the fence to get a better view - a car gave a friendly honk. Come to find out later that it was Steve and Sue on their way to Casper to visit their son. At the time they wondered aloud, "I wonder if that's the guy who's going to be staying with us in a couple of days?"

  1. Thank you Steve and Sue for your wonderful hospitality towards Rolff and all you do in Lesotho...

  2. If Sue and Steve were following your blog, they could have easily said Yes, that’s the guy that will stay with us since your red checkered shirt is quite distinct in all your pictures 😃
