Day 56 July 17th. New Chain
Douglas WY to Casper WY. 55 miles (2,544)
Even though I have been conscientious about keeping my chain clean and the lubed, I figured after about 2,000 miles, I should get a professional's opinion. My Warm Showers hosts for tonight recommended a shop in Casper called Gear Up and Get Out. They are friends with the owner, Tia. This is the mechanic, Tevin, who recommended and installed a new chain; he did not charge me for labor:
I got an early start because I wanted to beat the heat and I wanted to give the bike shop plenty of time to work on my bicycle before closing. I came upon this beautiful bike path in Glenrock, Wyoming:
I bought a breakfast burrito at Lynn's superfoods, where Christina was my checker:
Nice views between Glenrock and Casper:
After leaving the bicycle shop, I arrived at my warm showers hosts' home where I found a basement all set up for warm showers guests - private bedroom, bathroom, laundry and several special touches like a basket full of goodies, a basket full of travel size necessities, a wall full of notes and cards from previous Warm Showers guests, and a guest book:
I enjoyed a delicious array of unlimited quantities of leftovers as my hosts were preparing to leave for a trip and wanted help clearing out the fridge - something I was quite amenable to.
Here are Loraine and Charlie - Warm Showers hosts - decadently (their word, not mine) enjoying their TV viewing area in their backyard where we watched the NBA finals, game 5. They are Giannisnormous Bucks fans - Charlie having grown up in Wisconsin:
Looks like an awesome day! And very hospitable hosts!
