Day 44 July 5th Lincoln Trails

Lincoln NE to Schuyler NE 62 miles (1,961)

This is Kris, Ken and Scott.
We ended up sitting next to each other and talking over lunch at the bar and grill in Brainard, Nebraska. Kris has ridden BRAN (Bike Ride Across Nebraska) several times. You can probably guess from the picture that they are extraordinarily friendly. Ken was encouraging and said he liked talking to me because he likes interesting people 😊. They insisted on buying my lunch for me.
On my way to use the restroom I was thinking about what great people Nebraskans are. Then I saw this:
No offense to my Cornhusker brothers and sisters, but this did temper my opinion just a bit 🤓.
To get to Brainard, I had to navigate my way through the Lincoln, Nebraska trail system:
Lincoln has one of the best trail systems of any urban area I have traveled through. A trail brought me within a half mile of my Warm Showers hosts last night and then I was on trails this morning for all but about half a mile to get northeast of Lincoln.

Once I made it safely out of lincoln, I had some challenging gravel roads with beautiful views:

I also rode a beautiful trail today called the Oak Creek Trail:

  1. Beautiful roads....However, haven’t made up my mind about gravel, 🤔 especially on a loaded touring bike 😬

  3. Well, I guess most of us have some sort of bad habit, including the friendly cornhuskers 🥺.
