Day 41 July 2nd The Rollers
Atlantic IA to Council Bluffs IA 47 miles (1,801)
Upon my arrival, Bev welcomed me wearing her apron full of cherry juice. I soon joined her in pitting homegrown cherries. She provided an apron so that my sweaty, filthy bicycle clothes didn't get stained:
Tonight I'm staying with this wonderfully warm, friendly, welcoming, Warm Showers host couple Ron and Bev, on the right:
They wanted to host me even though they were busy getting ready for a big family get together for the 4th of July. The couple on the left is there son and daughter-in-law.To get to their house I had to ride crazy rollers all day:
I was exhausted by the time I got to Ron and Bev's home. But, I was rewarded with some beautiful views:

A couple of Bev's tasty pies:
Ron, who has a lot of touring experience and very interesting stories. He also has the most amazing personal bicycle shop I have seen:
Bev, who puts her baking skills to good use as a member of the Iowa Cookie Crumbs. This is an organization that sends thousands upon thousands of cookies to deployed military men and women overseas. Our son Joe will soon be a beneficiary of her ministry.
Good thing you have your rear view mirror on - you don't want anyone sneaking up to steal a Cherry! Those pies look amazing!!!
