Day 37 June 28th The Mechanic

Rest Day Ames IA 0 miles (1634)

Hawk is fantastic! He completed several repair/maintenance issues on my bicycle including two trips to the bicycle store for parts. Thanks to him, my bicycle is now ready for the next 1,600 + miles.

Green pepper stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. The Iowans love to wrap everything in bacon. If it's food it's bacon wrappable.

This is Hawk getting ready to barbecue some shish kabob and the bacon wrapped peppers mentioned above. Carolyn assures me that Hawk will have a new super supreme grill when they move to their new property.

Carolyn, Hawk's wife, made these crosses with her dad from wood off his property. She gave me and Laura these crosses.

A cyclone in the bike shop where we got parts for my bicycle. The teams for Iowa State University are called the cyclones. Their colors are cardinal (is that a real color?) and gold. People here are really big into their Cyclones. Everything - signs, billboards, store windows, license plates, car windows, shirts, etc - has something to do with the Cyclones.
