Day 32 June 23rd Mighty Miss

Rock Island IL to Muscatine IA 22 miles (1,398)

On today's ride I crossed the  mighty Mississippi River from the Illinois side to the Iowa side.

My awesome warm showers host, Robin, drove me to the start of the bridge (husband Bruce not pictured)

This part of the bridge had swung open to let a barge through. I had to wait for it to close and for the gate for the walkway to open:

I arrived at Wildcat Den State Park and went on a hike. The geology and Flora were stunning:

The hike took me to the Old Grist Mill, built by the county's first settler, Benjamin Nye. He is the great great great great grandfather of Bill Nye the Science Guy - not really, sorry ๐Ÿ˜:
