Day 20 The Dogs June 11

Brookville, OH to Economy, IN - 53 miles (927)

This is the farmhouse where Jerry, Mack and Bailey live. They're the dogs that forced me off my bike and surrounded me. I hit Jerry with a little bit of pepper spray but Mack and Bailey were too sly and stayed out of reach. Eventually the owner came out to call them off. That's how I know their names.
First time I have had to use pepper spray since I started carrying it in my pocket on every ride about 10 months ago.

These are some of the back roads I rode in Western Ohio.

Another cool bike repair/maintenance station along the trail.

Note:
I stopped in Richmond, OH at Cycling and Fitness Warehouse where Danny set me up with a new seat post. Thank you, Danny! While I was there a customer, Ron, and I began talking. Turns out he is from Xenia and knows the lady who stays in the Fairgrounds trailer. (See blog entry Day 17)

While Danny was working on my bicycle I was able to go to the cafe next door to get this fantastic cobb salad.

  1. Wonderful photos of picturesque Ohio, it makes me want to cycle there. Those repair stations are great along the trail…just keep pedaling!

    1. It's difficult to tell from the angle in this picture but the two round things at the top are actually short bars that come out from the tool station and they have rubber on the top of them for hanging your bike from the top tube so they are in effect a bike stand, too.

    2. I kind of wondered what those knobs are on top-that’s really genius to have a bike repair stand too!

  3. Hey Rolff it was actually Richmond Indiana. Richmond is on the state line but it is in Indiana lol
